The Killer Shrews (1959)

Coonhounds in shag carpet, and it still works, because the film understands that the horror is the island, not the animal. Everyone is trapped, drunk, and out of ammunition well before the third act. Full of Hell run twenty-three minutes and spend none of them establishing anything. Both get in, ruin the room, and leave. Total combined runtime: ninety-two minutes. You will be home early.
