Waxworks (1924)

Three wax figures, three stories, and a final act where the film gives up on stories entirely and becomes a chase through superimposed nothing. Leni's fairground set warps like heat. Oranssi Pazuzu do the same to black metal — start somewhere recognizable, then let the room dissolve while nobody is watching the exits. The last twelve minutes of each is where they stop pretending.
