Lugosi's eyebrows do more work here than most modern budgets. A sugar mill run on obedient corpses, filmed on borrowed Universal sets, lit like a bad dream someone had about labor. Immolation's first record has the same crooked verticality — riffs that refuse to resolve, everything leaning slightly wrong on purpose. Two works about being made to move by something that is not you.
