A poverty-row village, a mob, a scientist with a jar. Made on standing sets from bigger films, which gives it the pleasant sensation of trespassing. Cruciamentum play death metal like it is architecture from another era being repaired correctly — old shapes, sharp edges, no nostalgia. Both are secondhand materials assembled by people who knew exactly what they were doing.
