Chaney designed his own face and refused to let anyone photograph it before release, so the unmasking landed on audiences the way it was meant to. Five cellars down, a lake, an organ, and a man who built a home under a building full of people who would never look for him. Esoteric write the music of that basement — vast, patient, entirely convinced of its own logic. Do not remove the mask.
